Meet the TAMUK

TAMUK rabbits are a specialty breed developed at Texas A&M University-Kingsville over more than 35 years, bred specifically to handle the Texas heat. They’re a composite of several breeds, giving them longer ears and a thinner coat than typical meat rabbits — traits that help them stay cool and thrive in our climate. They’re hardy, come in a wide range of colors, and are well suited to backyard and homestead settings.

FAQs

Why 8 weeks old?

By 8 weeks, kits are fully weaned and independent, making the transition to a new home much easier on them.

Are TAMUKs good for meat or pets?

Both. TAMUKs were bred as a productive meat breed, but their hardy, easygoing nature also makes them a solid choice if you’re looking for a backyard rabbit or breeding stock.
